International summer school on materials for energy storage and conversion(mESC-IS School 2019) is an integral part of the symposium held with the same name ( International Symposium on Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion, mESC-IS 2019). The summer school, will take place 7-11 September 2019 preceding the symposium. The school will take place at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University except for the last-morning- session on the fifth day which will take place at Yücelen Hotel, Akyaka .
The school follows the structure of the earlier schools, mESC-IS School 2017 and mESC-IS School 2015 and aims to bring new comers-early researchers with those experienced in the field. The school covers the state-of-the-art reviews in selected topics plus in depth coverage of materials and electrochemical characterization techniques.
Topics to be covered in the summer school are as follows;
Mario El Kazzi (Paul Sherrer Institut): Photoemission spectroscopy in battery research
Y.Eren Kalay(METU):In Situ Synchrotron Diffraction and Rietveld Analysis
Matthew Lacey(Uppsala University): EIS for Battery Research
Meltem Sezen(Sabancı University):Focus Ion Beam Techniques in Mat. Characterization
Servet Turan( Eskisehir Technical University) Adv. Techniques in Electron Microscopy
M. Kadri Aydınol (METU):How to make batteries-cell making pocesses
Michael Aziz(Harvard University): Organic Flow Batteries
Aligul Buyukaksoy(Gebze Technical University): Int. Temp. Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Babu Chalamala (Sandia National Laboratories): Grid-Scale Energy Storage
Rezan Demir-Cakan(Gebze Technical University): Li-S batteries
Duncan Paul Fagg (Aveiro University) : Protonic Fuel Cells.
Mehmet Oguz Guler (Sakarya University):Li-ion Batteries
Onder Metin(Koç University) : Catalysis-A Brief Overview
Mustafa Urgen( Istanbul Technical University) : Supercapacitors
Hands-on sessions/case studies are planned for
i) Rietveld refinement of XRD/Synchrotron data
ii) Photoemission spectroscopy in battery reserach
iii) Electrochemical impendence spectroscopy in battery Research
Details as to how this will be implemented will be announced soon.
