International summer school on materials for energy storage and conversion(mESC-IS School 2019) is an integral part of the symposium held with the same name ( International Symposium on Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion, mESC-IS 2019). The summer school, took place 7-11 September 2019 just before the symposium at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University except for the last-morning-session on the fifth day which made the scene at Yücelen Hotel, Akyaka .

The school followed the structure of the earlier schools, mESC-School 2017 and 2015 and aimed to bring early researchers with those experienced in the field. The school covered the state-of-the-art reviews in selected topics plus in depth coverage of materials and electrochemical characterization techniques.
Topics covered in the summer school were as follows;
Material/Electrochemical Characterization
Mario El Kazzi (Paul Sherrer Institut): Photoemission spectroscopy in battery research
Y.Eren Kalay(METU):In Situ Synchrotron Diffraction and Rietveld Analysis
Matthew Lacey(Uppsala University): EIS for Battery Research
Meltem Sezen(Sabancı University):Focus Ion Beam Techniques in Mat. Characterization
Servet Turan( Eskisehir Technical University) Adv. Techniques in Electron Microscopy
